Religion The primary goal of our program is to help each child recognize their specialness and experience God’s love. It is important that we instill a love for all by treating others the way Jesus loves us. Prayer, Christ-like attitudes, and our faith in action including attendance at Mass are crucial to the spiritual development of your child.
ELA Language/Reading and Writing All subjects including reading, spelling, grammar and writing skills are blended together to enhance language.
Math Hands on experiences and the use of manipulatives provide students with an understanding of math concepts.
Homework HW Homework will be listed on our website and Google classroom. Each child is responsible for specific homework assignments. All homework assignments are due on Friday. Reading word lists from homework must be practiced daily. Math written HW will be given weekly and due on Friday. Spelling is given weekly with a test at the end of each lesson. A pre-Spelling test is given at the beginning of each weekly lesson to help with studying. All homework pages need to be signed. Your signature indicates approval of correctness and neatness. The website and Google classroom is updated regularly, please check it regularly.
Home Folder Each child will receive a sturdy folder to hold monthly calendars and other important papers. This folder is to be taken home each day. Loose papers may be taken out at the end of the week unless specified. Everything will also be emailed or posted on Google classroom.
Calendar To reinforce the positive, a paper with specific behaviors will be marked. Unacceptable behavior will be indicated. An acceptable day will be indicated on the calendar side with a stamp, color or sticker. Please place your initials each day in the box. Keep the calendar paper in the home folder.
Correspondence All correspondence, notes and money should be in an envelope marked with the child’s name and room number (7). When your child is absent, please use an index card and state the reason for absence. It is acceptable to send my an email about the absence.
All belongings should have proper identification It is recommended that all workbooks be covered with clear contact for easy identification. It is not necessary to cover copybooks or their reading books. Children need at least 5 sharpened pencils daily.
Dismissal A note must accompany any change of dismissal lines. Or call the office before lunch to allow for proper notification.
Discipline Please be supportive as warnings are issued. Children need to be held responsible for their actions.
Books Books are sent home for several reasons. Check for HW on the page for written homework. Books are guides for what is being taught. Skills may need to be practiced. Sign any pages and make corrections to any mistakes.
Snack Recess Children may bring a healthy snack (no candy please) for snack recess. They may have a drink (water or juice bag) and a small snack. Pretzels can be purchased for the week. This money is due the Friday before the order.
Birthdays Birthdays may be celebrated in our class only. No food items are allowed. Invitations to parties must be for all classmates.
Lunch Please label lunch containers. Be sure to pack extra napkins to use as a placemat. Lunch is eaten in the classroom until further notice. Please make sure you pack extra drinks for the day. Secure all lunch containers tightly.
